Our Story.

Pax was founded by Kimberly Brown and Emily White, who both met in the midst of their own recovery. After many phone calls from hospitals and institutions of friends who just couldn’t seem to stay sober, both Kim and Em started asking the question of “what’s missing?”. With so many great treatment centers, sober livings, and meetings in Dallas, why is it that the relapse and overdose rate is increasing? What’s something the recovery community doesn’t have? Emily’s experience with recovery had been attending meetings and then hanging out at local taco shops afterwards. Once sober, it seemed hard to figure out “what to do”, and often times groups of friends would turn back to the only thing they knew.

That’s when Kim and Em decided Dallas needed a sober community center, a place where meetings were held, but there would also be activities, events, and hangout space 7 days a week. With such a rise in overdose, our hope is to provide a safe place where anyone can go, to prevent going back to what they already know. Nobody should have to do recovery alone.
